Websites and online stores for furniture and interior companies

Furniture is an expensive, bulky and personal purchase. Few customers buy a sofa after one look at a photo: they compare, measure, visit a showroom, ask about fabrics and delivery, and often need something slightly different from the standard model. A furniture website works when it supports that longer decision — and makes it easy to take the next step, whether that is an order, a showroom visit or a made-to-order request.

In short

In short

  1. 01

Product pages need exact dimensions, materials, configurations and realistic photos — including the product in a real room.

  2. 02

Made-to-order and custom furniture is sold through a request and a consultation, not a cart.

  3. 03

Showroom visits are a key conversion; the website should drive them and show what is on display where.

  4. 04

Delivery, lifting and assembly are part of the purchase and must be priced and explained clearly.

  5. 05

Interior design studios sell expertise; their portfolio and process pages matter more than a catalog.

Overview

The catalog

  • Structure by room and by product type, with filters for dimensions, material, colour, style and price. See e-commerce catalog structure.
  • Configurations: fabric or leather options, colours, sizes, modules — with the price updating as options change, where prices are published.
  • Dimensions in centimetres for every piece, and for modular furniture a drawing of each module.
  • Photos: studio shots, the product in an interior, close-ups of material, and photos of the fabric samples available.
  • Availability: in stock, on order with an estimated production time, or on display in a showroom.

Made-to-order furniture

For kitchens, wardrobes and other custom furniture, the website's job is to collect a good request: room dimensions, photos, preferred materials and a rough budget, then arrange a measurement visit or a consultation. A simple step-by-step form, followed by a quick call, converts better than a generic contact form. Requests go into the CRM with their stage — measurement, design, quote, contract, production, installation. See CRM integration.

Showrooms

Many customers want to sit on the sofa before buying it. The website should show showroom addresses, hours, which items are on display in each, and allow booking a visit or a consultation with a designer. Store pages on Google Maps with photos of the showroom help customers find you.

Delivery and assembly

Delivery of large items involves lifting to the floor (with or without a lift), assembly and sometimes removal of old furniture. The website should explain the options and costs by zone, and the checkout should collect the information the delivery team needs. See delivery for online stores in Azerbaijan.

Interior design studios

For studios, the portfolio is the product: completed interiors with good photography, the brief, the solution and the result. Pages explaining the process — briefing, concept, drawings, supervision — and what the client receives at each stage help clients understand what they are paying for. A clear request form for a first consultation converts interest into meetings.

Manufacturers and B2B

Furniture manufacturers selling to dealers, hotels or offices need a B2B section: catalog with specifications, downloadable files, dealer locator, and a request form for projects. See B2B e-commerce portals.

What to measure

  • Online orders, made-to-order requests and showroom visit bookings by channel.
  • Conversion from request to measurement and to contract.
  • Products with many views and few orders — often a photo, price or information problem.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can customers order custom sizes online?

For simple configurations with clear pricing rules, yes. For complex custom furniture, a request and a consultation are more reliable.

Should we show prices for made-to-order furniture?

Starting prices or prices per metre, with an explanation of what changes the price, help customers decide whether to proceed.

Do we need 3D or augmented reality?

It can help for some products, but good photos, exact dimensions and room photos solve most of the same problems at lower cost. Consider it after the basics are strong.
